A Do Over

Hello Family,

I love playing games and competing with little kids because they can be so entertaining when it comes to losing. That’s right, I said losing.

Some kids get mad and pout. They cross their arms, poke out their bottom lip and say that they don’t want to play anymore. Some cry, stomp their feet and walk away. And some look you straight in the face and with conviction proclaim that you cheated!

But then there are the ones who don’t get mad but want to get even. Those are the ones who want a Do Over. When the competition is over and the final score is tallied and they come up short, they want a do over. Yes, they want to play again, and again, and again in hopes of winning the next time.

These kids are smart because they figure that if they continue to play the game they will figure out a way to win. They have that ‘can’t quit’ attitude. They’re determined, focused and strong-minded. They are winners.

They know that if they get another shot, another chance, a do over, they will eventually win. It’s not a matter of if they will win but when they will win.

They know that if they endure and have hope, they will at some point and time win the game. They believe that it is their destiny to win so they keep the faith.

Do you still have the faith that you will win? Are you enduring through all of the hardships life has to offer? When you lose or get knock out of the game, are you looking for a do over, another chance? Or do you just quit?

1 John 5:4-5 says For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

Because I am born of God and not of monkeys or tadpoles, I am destined to overcome the world. I have to have victorious faith to overcome “the world” which is this corrupted, sinful life that I live in. I need faith that tells me I will win even in my tainted life and so do you.

I know it’s hard and you’ve been knocked down and out and kicked in the butt but with faith in God you can have a do over. You can get back in the game and go for the triumph.

We all can overcome the world and all of the traps of the enemy through Christ Jesus who strengthens us. He is our trump card, our secret weapon, our ace in the hole so when we lose in life we can call on the one who has all power in heaven and on earth and get a do over.

And when Jesus grants us a do over, it’s as good as win.

Be Encouraged and Continue to Do Over Until You Win!

Still I Rise

Hello Family,

The great poet Maya Angelou wrote a poem titled Still I Rise and there are a lot of people that I know who love it. As a matter of fact, some of them love it so much they know it by heart.

It’s very inspirational and every time I heard someone recite it, it motivated me.

The poem is about being bold. It’s moving and it’s emotional. It’s powerful, beautiful and wonderful all wrapped up into one.

Some parts of the poem talk about struggling and being down…

Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
Weakened by my soulful cries.

But later in the poem she writes…

Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that’s wondrously clear
I rise

Maya Angelou talks about being broken and weary but later on proclaims victory while referring to leaving behind dark circumstances.

She also proclaims victory many times throughout the poem when she says, “but still…I’ll rise” or “I rise”.

Even though Maya Angelou had some profound words about how to rise above your dark situations, I recently read a bible verse that shows that God also had something to say about the matter many, many, MANY years before Ms. Angelou wrote her famous poem.

Micah 7:8 says Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; when I fall, I will arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me.

If you are a child of God you will rise no matter what because our heavenly Father will not let His children be defeated. The enemy has no authority over us so we don’t have to fear him or his tactics. And even when we fall, we will soon arise.

Darkness is not a threat for us either. It may seem as though we don’t know which way to go or we can’t see the vision clearly, our God will be a light for us. He will be our guide. He will direct us and lead us through all of our trials and tribulations.

If we do what we are called to do then we have God’s blessed assurance of prosperity and victory but we must remove sin from our lives. We can’t let that be a barrier to God’s light shining on our lives.

So remember when you fall, trust in God and know for sure that you will arise.

Be Encouraged and Have a Blessed Weekend!

P.S. Please leave a comment on this message and let me know about anytime when you had to rise up. Also, make sure you share this with you family and friends on Facebook and Twitter.

Fight For Your Life

Hello Family,

It’s time to get in shape. No I’m not talking about getting in shape for the summer time, although some of us need to do that. I’m talking about getting in shape to go to battle. It’s time to get in shape to FIGHT.

That’s right; I’m trying to fight somebody. Not just anybody though. I got my eyes focused on my target and his name is Satan. I’m not running from him anymore. I’m getting in shape and I’m getting ready to rumble.

I need to work on my muscle tone and strength so that I will overcome the strongholds. I need to work on my endurance so I can be in the fight for the long haul. I need to work on my agility so I can dodge the fiery darts.

I’m ready for this fight because I know God’s got my back and He will take care of me. All I have to do is prepare myself and get ready and God will lead me to victory.

God is like a world class trainer that everybody wants in their corner. He knows how to get you ready for your opponent. He knows all of the greatest strategies and how to prepare you to be your best. He knows your strengths and weaknesses and He knows the enemy’s strengths and weaknesses.

But God is better than the best trainers in the world because if you’re in a position where you’re about to lose the fight, God can do something that no other trainer can do. He can step in and finish the fight for you AND He will defeat your enemy without breaking a sweat.

Joshua 10:25 says Then Joshua said to them, “Do not be afraid, nor be dismayed; be strong and of good courage, for thus the LORD will do to all your enemies against whom you fight.”

I feel a victory coming on! What about you?

Now I told you I’m ready to fight but do you know what I’m fighting for? Or let me ask you, what should you be fighting for?

What do you need to take a stand for? What do you need to reclaim. What do you need to speak life over?

It doesn’t matter what it is, WE MUST FIGHT.

No longer will we except defeat as a way of life. No longer will we get beat up.  No longer will we let anyone or anything overpower us. No longer will we be a victim.

It’s time for you to…

Fight for your destiny.

Fight for your family and friends.

Fight for your purpose.

Fight for your health.

Fight for your prosperity.

Fight for your peace of mind.

Fight for your business.

Fight for your home.

Fight for your dreams.

Fight for your career.

FIGHT FOR YOUR LIFE!

Let’s fight the good fight.

I don’t care if you are a flyweight, bantamweight, featherweight, lightweight, welterweight, middleweight, cruiserweight or heavyweight; you need to get ready

to fight!

Be Encouraged and Have a Victorious Weekend Champ!

It’s Time for a Step Show.

Hello Family,

I’m sure most of you have seen the movie Stomp the Yard and/or what I consider its predecessor, the 1988 Spike Lee classic School Daze. If you haven’t, they’re both set on a black college campus and the focus is around fraternities.

Throughout Stomp the Yard there are a lot of scenes where fraternities are stepping. This is one of my son’s favorite movies. I mean he knows the whole script, he knows all of the dance moves and he is extremely fond of the stepping routines.

He gets all worked up and is stomping on the floor with giant beads of sweat rolling down his head and his cheeks all flushed. And don’t think about getting in his way because you will get hurt.

Not only can stomping hurt you, it can be fatal. For all you bug haters, you know what I’m talking about. What do you do when you see a bug on the floor? You stomp on it until there is nothing left. When you pick your shoe up off the floor you don’t see anything because the poor little thing is now all stuck in the treads of your shoes.

Why don’t we use this type of force to stomp out our problems?

Luke 10:19 says Behold, I give you authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

What are your serpents and scorpions? What are some of the things that are trying to take you out? What evil things are trying to destroy you?

The Word says we have authority over ALL the power of the enemy which means that whatever Satan tries, he can’t defeat us because our power is greater than his. Not only that, HE CAN’T HURT YOU!

Yeah it seems impossible at times. And yes it’s extremely tough but we are victorious because our God has given us authority and no one can take that away from us.

So fellas put on your boots and ladies put on those shoes and let’s get ready for a step show. Our Step Master, who is the Holy Spirit, is ready to lead us and guide us to victory.

Be Encouraged and Have a Victorious Day!
